You work for the WWF Advertising Department : you'll have to design the front page of a  leaflet campaigning against man-made global warming effects.

The WWF = the World Wildlife Fund : a global environment-friendly organization created 56 years ago. Its logo

shows a black and white panda (a protected species)

Watch the picture below attentively... then write as many words or phrases (expressions) as possible !

TIP : Reuse the previous vocabulary activities (Questions 1 to 5 page 31 - workbook, ex. #1-2 -copy) and the vocabulary mind map on the environment you worked on last week.

IMPACTS of global warming

Although the environment endures a great deal of threats and damages, there may be  some solutions. The mind map below  shows  things  people  could  do  to  slow  global  warming   and  to  protect  our  planet :

Little Red Riding Hood

Parodies are an interesting way of working on traditional and classic literary works : school textbooks in France have now  taken over the English teachers' suggestions and offer paths and plans including animated parodies.

The internet displays loads of documents that parody various tales : "Little Red Riding Hood" is one of the most commonly studied although many others are also worked on.

Below, three cartoon or animate parodies of Little Red Riding Hood.

Betty Boop's "Dizzy Red Riding Hood" (1931 !)

"Fractured"

is part of a late 60s Rocky & Bullwinkle show :

Tex Avery's "Red Hot Riding Hood" :

ORAL COMPREHENSION

Here is "South Africa plans huge solar farm"

NPR's  breaking  news  (delivered  on   October  28,   2010) :              a radio file you will use to train your oral comprehension.

This file is taken from the radio's website : NPR delivers both national and international breaking news  &  "top stories from business, politics, health, science, technology, music, arts and culture."

Click on the radio logo to listen to the file :  http://media.npr.org/chrome/news/nprlogo_138x46.gif

The news tells us about a huge farm that will be built in South Africa's Northern Cape region. The project might eventually meet up to 10% of South Africa's energy needs. The project is to be managed by the U.S. engineering firm 'Fluor' ; it was based on a viability study by the 'Clinton Climate Initiative'.
